If thin hair is what you’re struggling with, this article will help you choose the best hair extensions for fine hair and master the perfect blending technique in a few easy steps.
It is crucial that you find the right type of extensions for thin hair to work with the style and texture of your natural hair. If your hair is thin and flat, the best hair extensions for thin hair are the Invisible hair extensions. What makes this line special is the fact that the base where the clips are attached is 50% thinner than the base of classic hair extensions. This base is made out of silicon so the hair extensions for thin hair lie flat on your head and that makes them virtually undetectable!
If your extensions of choice are clip in hair extensions it's best to tease the roots of your hair and apply a small amount of hairspray before you attach them. This will give a solid base for the extensions for fine hair, securing them in place and preventing them from slipping off.
We suggest you start applying the 3 or 4-clip wefts first, to add the most volume to the back of your head. For people with thin hair especially, it is highly important to place the hair pieces for thin hair in strategic areas, so they look natural and blend in with your natural hair. Start by tracing a line at the base of your head and clip the upper part preferably in a bun. Clip your large weft just on this line, then let your hair down over it and brush it, so that the hair extensions for thin hair blend in with your hair.
If you feel the need for more volume, redo the steps from above and add another weft on top of the previous one, being careful not to clip it too close to the first one.
Although the hair extensions for thin hair sets come with 9, 10 or 11 wefts depending on the weight, you might not need to use all of them in order to get the desired volume. But to create a natural look, after applying the 3 or 4 clip wefts, you should continue clipping the 1 and 2-clip wefts on the sides of your head. Make sure the weight is correctly distributed and that the wefts are well-positioned once you brush through it.
Now that you have a full set of hair extensions for fine hair in it's time to pay attention to the finer details in order to get them blended in naturally. After thoroughly brushing all the hair, depending on what you prefer, you can either straighten or curl it together so that the hair pieces for thin hair and your own hair match in texture and style. While you’re at it, why not try a ponytail? If applied correctly, the clip in extensions for thin hair won’t be showing at all underneath your crown and you’ll be able to pull off whatever hairstyle you want.
Like with everything, practice makes perfect and with time you’ll figure out what number of wefts best suit your hair and what the perfect positioning is for your head. You will become a pro at applying your hair pieces for thin hair in no time, especially if you stay away from a few common mistakes:
