by Alice on April 10, 2020

If you have thin, fine hair and you are looking for solutions to help you get more volume you've come to the right place. Clip in hair extensions are the easiest and fastest way to get voluminous, thick hair in no time. You don't have to be afraid of the blending process because nowadays human hair extensions are made for every hair type and people with thin, fine, oily, flat hair can get longer, bigger hair with zero damage and minimum effort too.

Irresistible Me is highly conscious about diversity so we designed hair extensions for thin hair (the Invisible line) which was specially created for people with thin, fine, oily, hair that want to wear extensions for thin hair without them being visible or feeling heavy.

If thin hair is what you’re struggling with, this article will help you choose the best hair extensions for fine hair and master the perfect blending technique in a few easy steps.

Step 1 - Choose the right set

It is crucial that you find the right type of extensions for thin hair to work with the style and texture of your natural hair. If your hair is thin and flat, the best hair extensions for thin hair are the Invisible hair extensions. What makes this line special is the fact that the base where the clips are attached is 50% thinner than the base of classic hair extensions. This base is made out of silicon so the hair extensions for thin hair lie flat on your head and that makes them virtually undetectable!

Step 2 - Prepare your hair

If your extensions of choice are clip in hair extensions it's best to tease the roots of your hair and apply a small amount of hairspray before you attach them. This will give a solid base for the extensions for fine hair, securing them in place and preventing them from slipping off.

Step 3 - Apply the larger wefts

We suggest you start applying the 3 or 4-clip wefts first, to add the most volume to the back of your head. For people with thin hair especially, it is highly important to place the hair pieces for thin hair in strategic areas, so they look natural and blend in with your natural hair. Start by tracing a line at the base of your head and clip the upper part preferably in a bun. Clip your large weft just on this line, then let your hair down over it and brush it, so that the hair extensions for thin hair blend in with your hair.

If you feel the need for more volume, redo the steps from above and add another weft on top of the previous one, being careful not to clip it too close to the first one.

Step 4 - Apply the smaller wefts

Although the hair extensions for thin hair sets come with 9, 10 or 11 wefts depending on the weight, you might not need to use all of them in order to get the desired volume. But to create a natural look, after applying the 3 or 4 clip wefts, you should continue clipping the 1 and 2-clip wefts on the sides of your head. Make sure the weight is correctly distributed and that the wefts are well-positioned once you brush through it.

Step 5 - Style your hair altogether

Now that you have a full set of hair extensions for fine hair in it's time to pay attention to the finer details in order to get them blended in naturally. After thoroughly brushing all the hair, depending on what you prefer, you can either straighten or curl it together so that the hair pieces for thin hair and your own hair match in texture and style. While you’re at it, why not try a ponytail? If applied correctly, the clip in extensions for thin hair won’t be showing at all underneath your crown and you’ll be able to pull off whatever hairstyle you want.

Like with everything, practice makes perfect and with time you’ll figure out what number of wefts best suit your hair and what the perfect positioning is for your head. You will become a pro at applying your hair pieces for thin hair in no time, especially if you stay away from a few common mistakes:

  • Do not add any wefts on the crown of your head, or the so-called ‘safe zone’ - which is the top of your head, an imaginary border where no clips will be attached. This will ensure that the hair from the safe zone will be enough to cover all the clip in extensions and keep them from popping out, making the extensions undetectable.
  • If your scalp is sensitive, do not apply any wefts too close to it - this will pull on your hair strands, potentially making the extensions uncomfortable and more likely to show through your hair. Always clip your hair extensions for thin hair a bit lower on your hair and don't worry they’ll stay put!
  • Do not feel the need to overcompensate by using all the wefts from the set! Especially with fine hair, the desired results (volume, body, length) will show immediately, even with the use of just a few wefts. Since every person is different and the needs vary from one person to the next, play around with the number of hair wefts you need for your look to be complete.

SYLVIE – Of course, like with all Human Remy hair, you can dye the Invisible line as well. Just bare in mind that the silicone base of the seamless extensions will not hold the dye, so only the hair itself will get colored. Not to worry though, as the silicone band is so thin, it won’t be showing through your hair at all!

CORA – When having thin hair, it might happen that you will not need all the wefts in the set to make your hair look natural and full. This is also a great thing, since now you can wear the ones that you need and keep the other wefts in a box until you need to wash the first batch – this will come in handy and you’ll always have your extensions at hand, in any moment!

I bought a set of your Invisible line but I definitely don’t need all the pieces… what should I do with the rest?

ANNEMARIE – You must play a bit around with the positioning of the wefts and once you find the perfect layout for you, you’ll be able to put your hair up in any hairdo you want and the extensions won’t show a bit! That’s the wonders of our Invisible clip-ins, their silicone band is so thin that it is basically undetectable in any hairdo.
