"My name is Marcel Henriquez (@marcelcurlsyouon). I’m a 27 year old hairstylist currently working freelance between Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and New Orleans, Louisiana. I am also an educator and team member of the Forever Curls Academy.

My hairstylist journey, like most hairstylist, began just randomly doing family and friends’ hair. I was initially going to college for something totally different. However, after giving birth to my daughter, I decided to pursue my creative side. So I dropped out of college and enrolled at Aveda Institute New Orleans, in 2017.

While there, I fell in love with hair even more. Once I graduated, in 2018, I chose to specialize in curls because of my own hair journey and my daughter’s hair. I worked at a natural hair salon for some time, until I decided choose a different path and rent a suite with my new mentor, Sherrire Ashante. While learning to be my own boss, I took several classes on curls to be able to master cuts, styles and colors on curly hair. These classes led me to Leysa Carrillo and Forever Curls. Now, I’m grateful to be a part of such an amazing team and have such important role in educating hairstylist to care for curls.

Once again, my own hair journey guides me. So in 2021 I cut hair really short. The shortest I’ve ever been. It was then that found interest in extensions and wigs. Not necessarily because I missed long hair but because I wanted to explore other options and understand how else I could relate to my clients. Irresistible Me provided me the opportunity explore my new interest even more and also provide my clients and models with hair that I trust.

Everything I’ve learned in the hair industry, I’ve been able to apply to my most recent interest, extensions and wigs. I care my for my extensions and my wigs just as I would my real hair because they are 100% human hair. Therefore, I use all of my professional products for colors, treatments, and style. As this is the best way to care for them long term.
