There is an overwhelming array of choice when it comes to hair extensions especially if you’re new to this area: clip-ins, tape-ins, weaves, pre-bonded, fusion, micro-link and there is also a lot of innovation in this domain, so the possibilities are endless. Out of all this multitude of choices, tape-in hair extensions really stand out as a preferred semi-permanent way to achieve a gorgeous head of hair. What are tape in extensions? They are the safest and less expensive method of camouflaging bad haircuts or hair loss or simply adding length and volume to your hair.
Imagine all those hairstyles and rich color options you’ve collected for so long in your Pinterest boards - they are all just a few tape in extensions away! If you're worried about the damage that tape-ins might do to your hair, rest assured that if applied correctly, they will not cause any stress on your own hair. The glue that is used on the tapes is medicinal glue, which makes them perfectly safe on your hair, and since they are so lightweight, they will not pull on your hair strands.
There are so many benefits to tape-in extensions and we really want to emphasize a few points for people who are just getting familiar with tape-ins.
They come in strands of about 1.5 inch wide, with a layer of special adhesive that is absolutely safe and very reliable. How to put in tape in extensions? Just take one thin strand of your own hair and create bounds (sandwiches) using 2 strands of tapes (one goes under and one on top of your own hair). The bonds will lie flat on your head, which will make them impossible to detect no matter what type of hairdo you create.
How to remove tape in extensions at home, you ask? You can simply take the tape-ins out with a special oil-based adhesive remover which dissolves the bonds and gets your tape-in extensions out in no time. The process is super easy and applying and removing tape in extensions shouldn’t take longer than an hour even if you get multiple sets of tape in hair extensions for a full look. Actually, with time and practice applying tape in extensions will take even less!
When applied, the tape-ins lie completely flat on your head, so you’ll probably even forget they’re there the first day you’ve applied them. They look extremely natural, it’s almost like they melt together with your own natural hair.
Since the application process is not time-consuming (45 minutes to an hour, depending on how many tape-in extension sets you want to apply) and they only need reapplying in 4 to 8 weeks, tape-ins are the best option when it comes to affordability versus duration.
Like with your natural hair, the care factor is very important. Luckily, tape-in extensions don’t require a whole lot of looking after, but mindfully caring for them will make them last longer and look as good as new after each new application.
Make this a daily routine: brush your hair when you wake up and before you go to bed with a special comb or brush that doesn’t pull on your hair or stress the bonds of the extensions. This routine will leave your locks smooth and silky. Also, tie your hair before you go to sleep to make sure the extensions won’t get tangled throughout the night.
Water friction isn’t a good friend of tape in hair extensions, but when you do wash your hair, make sure to use sulfate-free hair products to protect your tape-ins as much as possible. You can also use a good dry shampoo to clean your hair which is a huge help factor for your busy schedule!
In a few weeks, your hair will grow and the tape-in extensions will get lower on your sandwiched hair strands so you need to take them off, replace the tape and reapply them closer to the roos of your hair. Although it may seem complicated, this is actually a very simple process. Please keep reading to learn how to remove tape in extensions and how to re-tape then?
To remove tape-in extensions from your hair, you need a few drops of remover (coconut oil or any oil you have). Apply the remover on the sandwiches and using a slim comb easily, without pulling, separate the two tape pieces and loosen the bond. The next step is to also use remover on the sticky side of the removed tapes because a certain amount of glue still remains attached to each piece. Using your fingers or a set of tweezers remove any leftover adhesive. Before applying the new adhesive tapes, make sure you wash the hair extensions to remove any residue. The last step is to carefully place the new adhesive tape directly where the original one was. Do not remove the sticker on top until you install them. Now you are ready to refit the tape in hair extensions into your hair.
Tape-ins are great for every hair type. They add length and/or volume and work great for people who want to add thickness and more range to their locks. It’s also the best solution for people who are committed to wearing extensions for a longer period of time as they don’t need to be applied and reapplied frequently, so they are a real time-saver in the long run. Once you glue them to your hair strands, they become invisible and will last for weeks in a row! Talk about effortless amazing hair in no time!
If the tape-ins are applied and cared for properly they will not damage your hair. On the contrary, tape-ins might help hide already damaged hair from coloring or other chemical processes. The glue used on the tapes is medicinal, they are 100% safe on your hair and since they are extremely lightweight they will not pull on your natural hair strands.
Can you color tape-in extensions?
Like with all Human Remy Hair, you can treat the extensions like you would your natural hair. That means heat styling, cutting and even dyeing the extensions. Since tape-ins need to be moved from time to time (once every 4 to 8 weeks) usually when your hair outgrows them, you can take them out, color them to match your hair, and then have them reapplied. Like with all hair, bleaching is not recommended, but coloring the tape-ins to a darker shade is perfectly fine.
In all honesty yes because more hair equals more time! The good news is that you don't need to wash them as often as you would your hair, so the follicles will produce less sebum and you will mostly get by with dry shampoo most days. Tape-ins are a semi-permanent hair extensions solution, the point being that they will look and feel incredibly natural and they will become part of your everyday life without getting cumbersome.
In case you're new to hair extensions, tape-ins might require more dexterity than simply applying clip-ins, in which case we recommend you go see an extensions specialist at a salon. They will know the right placement for your tape-in extensions and make them look perfectly natural and you'll most likely be able to steal some pro tips so that you can apply them yourself the next time!
LUPITA – The price depends on what length you want them to have and how many packs you need. Here is a direct link to our tape in selection – https://www.irresistibleme.com/collections/tape-in-extensions

I like to know how much is
CORINNE – It really depends on how fast your natural hair is growing, but you can normally move the tape-ins every 4-8 weeks, so there’s a wide time-frame in which you can do this procedure. If you can’t find the time to do it yourself, maybe ask someone in your family to help you out.
I don’t always have the time to get them reapplied at the right moment… what should I do?!
MELROSE – Whe don’t know where you bought your extensions, but we at Irresistible Me only use quality materials for our tape-ins and the glue that gets taped to the weft is medicinal glue, so it will not damage your hair or make the wefts slip from your head. If you applied your tape-ins at home, please check the medicinal glue’s expiry date and make sure you only get quality products from now on. Also, do not wash your hair right after applying your hair extensions, as the shampoo might dissolve some of the bonds in the glue. Give it a day after you apply them and then groom your hair as you usually do, but without brushing it too hard, as that might also get the tapes loose.
One of my tape-ins literally just fell out? What happened there?!
ANNIE – We assure you that the light weight of tape-ins is a major quality factor and that having them correctly positioned is key to comfort. As with everything new, it might seem somewhat strange at the beginning, but soon enough you won’t even recall you have extensions in and you’ll fully enjoy your new head of hair!
How long will it take for me to get used to these semi-permanent extensions?
CAMILLA – Quality-wise, both our tape-in and clip-in hair extensions lines are 100% Human Remy Hair, but what sets them apart is the way you install them. Clip-ins are a fast way to add more length and volume in an instant, but they are temporary hair extensions, meaning you clip them off before going to bed. Tape-ins, on the other hand, are a more semi-permanent solution for everyday wear, so it’s a bigger commitment on your part, both style-wise and time-wise.
Are tape-ins better than clip-ins?
